What is Burke CARES

"He believed that one person can make a
difference, and that every person should try."
Jacqueline Kennedy, about President John Kennedy

What: We're a community building, non-profit organization  incorporated in 1997, in Burke Centre, which is in Burke, Virginia. Our official corporate name is Burke Community Action Resources for Empowerment and Support, Inc.

Burke CARES is a tax-exempt, status 501(c) (3) corporation. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

How You Can Help: We depend on financial contributions and we greatly appreciate all financial contributions we receive through the Combined Federal Campaign (# 7456), the United Way and other funds. You can also make a donation directly to Burke CARES.

Our members are all volunteers and our purpose is to help members of our community who have resources to come to the aid of  members who need those resources. We're open to everybody and are determined to help create a community of residents aware of each other's needs and helping to meet those needs. If you want to help us, please see our programs and services, and requests.

Where: We serve the members of Burke Centre and the larger Burke community, in Fairfax County, Virginia, about twenty miles southwest of Washington, D.C. (part of the D.C. metroplex)

Why: Not everyone in our community is equally well off. Some of us need help with education, employment, job training, transportation, healthcare, childcare, or other matters. Others have the resources to help meet those needs, but may not be aware of who needs help or what kind of help is needed.
