What Is the "Virtual Warehouse"?
First of all, it's not an actual building. It's just two lists of items
-- such as furniture, appliances, and other household goods.
One list is that of items that residents of our community are willing
to donate, free of charge, to other households in our community which need
the items.
The other list is that of items that households in our community need.
How Does the "Virtual Warehouse" Work?
People with an item or items to donate call the "Virtual Warehouse."
They give their nameand phone number, and describe the item they have to
donate. They also agree to hold onto the item for at least two weeks, to
give us time to find a household that needs the item.
People who need an item call the "Virtual Warehouse." They give their
name and phone number, and describe what they need.
When we can match an item needed with an item available, we call the
two people, and notify them. If they can make the transfer themselves,
they do.
If they need help moving the item from one household to the
other, we try to help them move it.
